What is the Data Quality Insights report?
The Data Quality Insights report (new in 2024) answers this question:
- Who is submitting time studies prematurely?
- Which activities are being submitted before being worked?
Why should I use the Data Quality Insights report?
Accurate hour submissions are essential for substantiating cost reports during audits. Time Study logs the activity name, date, duration, and the submission date. Your organization may allow early submissions if schedules are known in advance; otherwise, this report can highlight when further guidance is necessary.
Where do I find the Data Quality Insights report?
Only Admins have access to this report. In the left-hand Navigation menu:

How do I use the Data Quality Insights report?
Hours submitted for activities that haven’t happened yet will be included in this report.
For example, if your time study week is Sunday through Saturday and someone submits on Monday, listing 40 hours from Monday through Friday, those activities would be flagged as having been "Submitted prior to the activity date." By contrast, if someone submits a time study on Monday, listing only hours for Sunday and Monday, those activities will not be flagged.
You can filter the report by these options:
- Department
- Start Date
- End Date
- Name (username, first name, or last name)
As with all Start/End Date filters in the system, the entire time period must be within the range for any part of it to be included in the results.
Reset filters by refreshing the page.
The screenshot below provides details about Bruce Banner's time study:
- Time study period: 8/18/2024 - 8/24/2024.
- Submitted on 8/20/2024 (i.e. E-Sign Date), shortly after it began.
- Included hours for activities on 8/21, 8/22, and 8/23, after submission.
Click Export to download a filtered .csv file.
With this information, you have a few options:
- Go to the Manage Approvals report to reopen the time study for review and resubmission.
- Reference the list of names or departments if you want to instruct Reporters to wait before submitting.
- If you see activities like PTO and are okay with early submissions, navigate to Forms > Activities to edit the Activity and mark it as "Non-Productive Time," which will exclude it from the results.
We plan to add more flags for data quality issues in the future. If you have suggestions, submit a support ticket or click the help bubble to share your ideas.
